GR Advisory Board Member
In addition to serving on Global Resources' Advisory Board, Steve Puente is the founder of Puente HR (PHR), a high-level human resource firm that provides consulting services to senior executives and companies with a strong desire to grow and expand their businesses.
Steve Puente is an accomplished strategic human resource executive with specialized knowledge in leadership and organization development as well as career/life coaching. He has over thirty years of successful corporate and consulting experience, having served as Vice President of Human Resources for leading companies such as Kraft Foods, General Foods, Quaker State Corporation, and Fleetwood Enterprises. In his corporate roles, he interfaced with each company's Board of Directors and led all functional areas of human resources; he also served as Chief Spokesman in Union contract negotiations and arbitrations, while successfully representing the corporation's management in union de-certifications and organizing campaigns.
Steve has also spent many years in the field working as a Plant and Regional Human Resources manager handling thousands of employees in all areas of human resources management including staffing, employee handbook development and interpretation, complaints, legal compliance, discrimination, compensation and benefits, and terminations, and is skilled in conducting employee satisfaction surveys.
After his corporate experience, Steve served as Vice President of Senior Executive Coaching for two national outplacement firms in Southern California. He assessed and taught C-level executives critical top management skills including "how to become more effective leaders" and successful networking within their community. These focused coaching activities helped top leaders gain consulting business as well as boost their career opportunities.
Steve currently consults with CEO's and their executive leadership teams in order to develop and implement successful strategies, policies and procedures that will optimize the performance of their company's people, processes, and structure. Puente HR focuses on sourcing and placing senior executives that are the "right cultural fit" into an organization; simultaneously, he provides overall senior leadership development, utilizing a range of assessment tools and applying them to build professional development plans for the entire top leadership team. Steve focuses on strategic human resources management so that a performance management system, organizational structure, and "right team" - defined as a team that is aligned with the company's strategic growth and business objectives - is well developed and instituted.
In addition to his work with Global Resources, Steve serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for Managease Inc. (a human resource outsourcing and consulting firm) and Cryoport Systems Inc. (a technology firm).
Steve holds an MBA from the University of Memphis and a BS degree in Personnel from Villanova University. Steve has taught human resource management, organizational development and career management as an Adjunct Professor at Lake Forest Graduate School of Business and at Webster University Graduate School where the students selected him as "Outstanding Graduate Faculty" for 2003-2004.
